The acquisition of the bedding company Happy further strengthens Hilding Anders’ position in central Europe.

Hilding Anders has acquired all shares in the bedding company Happy AG, one of the leading bed and mattress manufacturers in Switzerland. The company’s net sales amounted to SEK 152 million in 2007.

Happy was established in 1895 and has been a family owned company since the start. The company has become one of the leading bed and mattress manufacturers Switzerland due to a successful strategy with the brand Happy Systems in the medium segment and with production of co-branded products for key customers. The company has also been successful within the contract business, primarily by supplying beds to hotels in Switzerland. Happy will serve as a complement to Hilding Anders’ existing Swiss company, Bico, which sells products in the premium segment.

“The acquisition of Happy makes Hilding Anders the clear market leader in Switzerland and strengthens the Group’s position in central Europe”, explains Anders Pålsson, President & CEO of Hilding Anders. “The Group now owns strong brands in the medium and premium segment in Switzerland and will be able to develop competitive concepts.”

Happy is the sixth acquisition made by Hilding Anders since the beginning of 2007, and is a part of a broader expansion strategy.

“Hilding Anders has a clear goal of becoming one of the world’s leading bed and mattress manufacturers. By acquiring Happy and thereby enhancing our position in central Europe we are acting according to that strategy," Anders Pålsson concludes.
