Plusdial Oy, the provider of Helsinki City Transport's mobile ticketing system, has chosen HiQ as its partner for the update and further development of the system's software platform.

The Helsinki City Transport mobile ticketing system was introduced in 2001 and an average of 230,000 tickets are sold through it each month. Through the system Helsinki residents can order a metro, tram or ferry ticket easily using their mobile phone. By November 2005 a total of more than six million mobile tickets had been sold in Helsinki. During its operation the system has won wide acclaim, including a Prime Minister's Best Practice award in 2004. In 2005 Plusdial has updated and developed the system further and the revised system was launched on 24 November 2005. The new updated system will provide better capacity for expanding the selection of ticket types and services in the future. “The area of validity for Helsinki City Transport's mobile tickets was extended in early November and a night-rate system was introduced at the same time. The aim is to extend the mobile ticketing system to cover the entire Greater Helsinki area in the near future. The updated system also offers better capabilities for international adaptations. Pre-pilot studies have already been conducted in Sweden, the UK, Germany and Italy,” says Plusdial's Managing Director Kimmo Mattila. “We chose HiQ as a partner because of its technical expertise and good references. We have been very happy with the ease of collaboration, the quality of the end result and the way in which HiQ's experts have sought the best and most effective options,” adds Mattila. Plusdial is a global mobile ticketing service provider with leading positions in mobile ticketing services and advanced mobile ticketing security. Plusdial Oy specializes in planning and producing mobile phone services. The new system must meet stringent reliability requirements, so it was important to use reliable, tried and tested technologies. As always, we have strived to ensure the best possible quality for our client,” says Juha Mynttinen, project manager at HiQ.
