- Imagine One Billion Faces for Peace will be the largest call for peace and non-violence ever manifested!

On 8 December it was 30 years since John Lennon was shot and killed in New York. To honour his legacy the Non Violence Project Foundation is launching a global call for peace and non-violence: www.IOBFFP.com.  The goal is to gain the support of one billion people.

www.IOBFFP.com will be the world’s largest call for peace and non-violence. Instead of signatures, participants will upload a photo of themselves. The call will be issued from the website, which will also have links to networks such as Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and Google and to the websites of various partners. HiQ has built the web site on EPiServer CMS and EPiServer Relate+, pro-bono.

“Non Violence has been doing fantastic work for many years in the spirit of John Lennon, so it was an easy decision for us to agree to help them out. We are happy to be able to make a contribution. We are going to make sure that all of HiQ’s people sign up as well. It will be exciting to see how the initiative is received around the world,” says Lars Stugemo, President and CEO of HiQ.

“The aim is to move our and John Lennon’s vision of a better world straight into the 21st century. We want to create the world’s largest global non-violence army with the power to influence world leaders to seek new solutions,” says Rolf Skjöldebrand, the foundation’s co-founder.

How will IOBFFP.com work?

  • IOBFFP.com will be the world’s largest call for peace and non-violence where people will sign up with a photo instead of a signature.
  • The goal is for one billion people to have shown their support by 2013.
  • Everyone who signs up will immediately receive a digital inspiration message: Ten Ways to Stay Out of Trouble, which describes how to solve conflicts peacefully without resorting to violence.
  • The call will also be manifested annually in the form of a unique book, 247 copies of which will be printed and given to all of the heads of state in the world.
  •  There will be a tour with interpretations of the Non Violence symbol in the form of 30 – 50 sculptures interpreted by global role models and young local heroes.

About the Non Violence Project Foundation
The Non-Violence Project Foundation was founded in 1993 and works with violence prevention by, among other things, educating youth. The foundation’s vision is to inspire, motivate and engage young people. So far five million students, teachers and sports coaches around the world have taken part in one or more of the foundation’s education programmes. The goal is to reach out to every school in the world and to have non-violence education as part of the curriculum.

The foundation’s symbol/logo is the famous revolver with the knotted barrel created by Swedish artist Carl Fredrik Reuterswärd as a memorial tribute to John Lennon. The symbol is now found in more than 30 locations around the world, including the United Nations building in New York, the Olympic museum in Lausanne and the Peace Park in Beijing.
