HiQ commissioned by JF Emballage to create new e‑commerce system for EUR pallets

HiQ is helping JF Emballage to create an e-commerce solution to simplify and improve the transport and supply of European pallets. The project, which is subsidised by the EU, is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in Europe by 26,000 tonnes per year with effect from 2013.

“Every day quantities of empty EUR pallets are transported long distances between different companies and intermediaries. This gives rise to significant costs as well as having an significant environmental impact. Together with JF Emballage we have created a solution that will enable suppliers, shipping companies and users to buy and sell pallets without intermediaries, at the right price, at the right time and in the right place. This will result in a significant reduction in costs, in the number of journeys and in carbon dioxide emissions,” explains Jon Carvell, Managing Director of HiQ Öresund.

Thanks to the new system, by 2013 carbon dioxide emissions are expected to be reduced by 26,000 tonnes per year through the fact that there will be 50,000 fewer journeys by heavy goods vehicles transporting empty EUR pallets. This will save 10 million litres of diesel per year!

“We chose HiQ based on its expertise and flexibility as regards the creation of web-based commerce solutions. In addition, this market place is a long-term investment – so our partner needs to have a strong history and a stable position going forward. HiQ meets these requirements and we are looking forward to continuing to work successfully together,” says Roger Eriksson, Project Director at JF Emballage.

“HiQ has many years’ experience and a strong position in commerce and web-based commerce solutions. We see this as one of our strong growth sectors, with expertise in this area increasingly in demand from the market. JF Emballage is doing a fantastic job in creating a more environmentally friendly transport alternative.  We at HiQ are proud to be a part of streamlining the process and we are now looking forward to our continued good cooperation," says Lars Stugemo, President and CEO of HiQ.
