HiQ develops follow-up system for mines for FMV The Nordic IT and management consultancy HiQ is developing a follow-up system for mines and depth charges for the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV). The project involves a complete undertaking, from the preliminary study and system specification to realisation, functional testing and maintenance. The Swedish armed forces' naval mines and depth charge systems are to be quality-assured so that modification, maintenance, stocks, etc. can be dealt with efficiently with a minimum of manual intervention. "HiQ's assignment will start with a preliminary study, design and system specification, moving on later to development, integration, implementation and operation. The aim of the assignment is to clarify how a computer-based mine follow-up system needs to be designed in order to be accredited centrally and locally," says Patrik Boman, Managing Director of HiQ Stockholm. FMV is responsible for ensuring that technology and equipment are developed to meet tomorrow's defence needs. FMV also has the task of strengthening the combined capacity of the armed forces as cost-effectively as possible. HiQ has worked with FMV since 1992, primarily on development, modelling & simulation. In the past year assignments within management support and network-based defence (NBD) have increased. "The assignment is a good example of how advanced technology can be used to improve the efficiency of operations, allowing supplies and equipment to be processed more easily, faster and more flexibly, while maintaining an overview at all times ," says Boman.
