HiQ helps Nordic satellite company to surf in space HiQ is heading a project for NSAB (Nordiska Satellitaktiebolaget), in which new services for IP communication via satellite will be developed and launched. The new services to be launched are the Multicast services Push and Streaming and Broadband solutions via Satellite across the whole of Europe. Using satellite communication as a carrier for Internet and IP Multicast means that it will be possible to reach speeds of up to 44 Mbit/s. The biggest gain is that it is simple to set up an ISP service despite the lack of infrastructure in the form of fixed networks. Large quantities of information can be distributed simultaneously across Europe simply and cost-efficiently. HiQ has a longstanding experience from working with high-tech projects, and NSAB is yet another good example. "The assignment confirms that we really have the full set of skills and intelligence within telecoms and datacoms required to manage such an advanced project. Space is an exciting new arena but the solutions are still the same," says Magnus Gudéhn, HiQ. NSAB supplies cost-efficient, flexible satellite communications for TV, radio, Internet and multimedia in the European market. NSAB owns and operates three satellites today, Sirius 1, Sirius 2, and Sirius 3. "HiQ offers an expansive range of skills to customers such as NSAB, as we work with telecoms suppliers, operators and end-users. With longstanding experience from the telecoms industry within technology and business development alike, we can offer the complete perspective required by our customers," concludes Gudéhn.
