HiQ makes healthcare services more efficient by using AI

HiQ has been entrusted by the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions to run an AI project concerning “Vården i siffror” (VIS), which is a tool for quality assurance and improvement in the Swedish healthcare system.
“With AI and machine learning, there are many opportunities to improve Swedish healthcare. And we are the perfect partner for that,” says Magnus Gudéhn, Managing Director at HiQ in Stockholm.

It isn’t about replacing doctors and nurses with robots, it’s about analysing the data that care providers already have to highlight characteristic data, chart general patterns and help the profession work more proactively.
“The objective is to create a tool that helps the profession assimilate the huge amount of quality data available today in order to become more proactive with quality assurance and anticipate quality trends,” says Patrik Wahlberg, e-health developer at HiQ

VIS contains results and measures that apply to everything from specific treatment initiatives to waiting times and how patients experience their care. Data on costs and productivity are also available, as well as more descriptive data on utilisation and how care is administered.
“The advantage of VIS is that it visualises. It makes it possible to manage change. Being able to develop it further with the help of AI and all the new analytic methods makes things even more exciting,” says Wahlberg.
