HiQ receives new major order for training simulators for JAS pilots worth SEK 114 million from the Swedish Defence Material Administration HiQ has gained renewed confidence to enhance advanced flight training simulators for JAS pilots. The new order from the Swedish Defence Material Administration and is worth SEK 114 million, and spans a two year timeframe. HiQ has worked with hi-tech flight simulators for the JAS 39 Gripen since HiQ began operations in 1992, and has extensive experience within defence industry developments. "The most advanced technology is used in the development of the simulators. We are very proud that the Swedish Material Administration continues to show confidence in us, and to be able to work closely alongside users within the air force and contribute to the development of the defence industry. The responsibility and scope of the project have broadened considerably," says Rolf Anderson, Managing Director for HiQ Approve AB. "The simulators used for training pilots to fly the JAS 39 Gripen are developed in parallel with the aircraft. We meet new system requirements and use new technology to develop cost efficient solutions," continues Anderson. The simulators are becoming all the more important for educating both civilian and military pilots. The advantage of flying in a simulator compared to a real aircraft is the simulator's much lower cost of flying time. Training exercises can be conducted in a simulator that cannot, for security reasons amongst others, be done using a real aircraft. "The assignment is a sure sign of our high quality as a consultancy services and advanced defence solutions supplier. It also demonstrates appreciation of the work we have done over the years and secures our position as a world leader within the field," says Lars Stugemo, Managing Director of HiQ International.
