HiQ signs framework agreement with the Swedish Defence Material Administration for system and technical consultancy services The Nordic IT and management consultancy, HiQ, has signed a framework agreement with the Swedish Defence Material Administration. Under the agreement HiQ will provide services in the fields of IT system technology, information protection technology, command systems and technical system administration. The agreement will be in effect during the year 2003. The potential value of the framework agreement is estimated to SEK 30 million. "The agreement with the Swedish Defence Material Administration confirms that HiQ is well positioned to provide services within the area of network-based defence. Our knowledge in the fields of system development, simulation technology, IT security and testing & verification is in demand, which shows that know-how in telecoms and datacoms is of value to the public sector," Lars Stugemo, CEO of HiQ International. HiQ has worked with the Swedish Defence Material Administration since 1992. This has primarily involved developing and integrating training simulators for fighter aircraft JAS 39 Gripen, but has also included carrying out studies and procurement in the fields of telecoms and simulation. "As a partner of the Swedish Defence Material Administration for ten years, we have a solid understanding of the kind of quality our customer expects us to deliver," says Stugemo. "Current technological developments fully support network-based defence. Further integrating the navy, army and air force through communication increases the reliability and efficiency of the national defences," says Stugemo. The command system is a system for operative control of military efforts and activities. The three branches of the armed forces have in the past developed their own systems, and these systems have not been able to be linked up or to work together. In the future the army, air force and navy will use common command functions and systems so that they can communicate with each other. An important aspect here is that the technology can make it possible.
