HiQ signs general agreement with UPC Sweden HiQ is to sign a general agreement with United Pan-Europe Communication (UPC), the international telecoms and broadband operator. The agreement relates to consultancy services within both systems and services development and business development and management alike. UPC focuses on the development of cable networks across the whole of Europe into advanced broadband networks for telephony services and the Internet. HiQ has been working with UPC since the autumn of 1999, and is now working by assignment of the operator in several countries. "We work with service development within telephony for UPC in the Netherlands. In Sweden, we are helping the company establish its operations, and in Norway we are developing mobile solutions for households," says Lars Stugemo, CEO HiQ International. "UPC is a new actor among the operators and is present in several countries, which makes the company an attractive customer for us. Our strategy is to follow our customers abroad, and also to establish new customers in Sweden. UPC is a good example of a customer with which we work across the board, both with technology and management. One of our strengths lies in our ability to offer our customers turnkey solutions within telecommunications," concludes Stugemo.
