HiQ to partner Cactus in a system development initiative for the rail industry
HiQ’s agile development team is to work together with Cactus to develop a system for rail and signalling infrastructure. The assignment is a key aspect of the Swedish Transport Administration’s introduction of a new national traffic management system that aims to improve punctuality, customer communication and capacity utilisation on Sweden’s railways.
This week Cactus signed a cooperation agreement with HiQ to guarantee access to the services of an agile systems development team over the next two years.
“HiQ is able to provide the competence and experience that is needed to help Cactus to quickly build a system that meets high criteria for safety and reliability,” says Fredrik Bergström, CEO at Cactus Rail AB.
Cactus builds systems to secure and optimise operations that are of critical importance for several of society’s most vital infrastructure services. Collaboration with HiQ began back in 2008, but the new partnership agreement heralds a new phase in the two companies’ relationship. The development project plays a central role in the overarching goal of creating a modern rail system for Sweden.
“This is a good example of how the Swedish transport industry is at the forefront of developments when it comes to using software to achieve a competitive advantage,” says Jerker Lindstén, Managing Director of HiQ in Gothenburg. “Here at HiQ we have many years’ experience of working with clients in the transport industry and other key sectors of society. It is a source of great pride and pleasure that Cactus has such confidence in our ability to deliver.”
The new national traffic management system will provide a comprehensive solution for integrating functions such as information, monitoring, control and resource optimisation across the entire rail network.
“What drives us is our commitment to use technology to simplify and improve people’s lives,” says Lars Stugemo, CEO and President of HiQ. “I am delighted and honored that we are able to assist in the challenge of creating a modern rail system for Sweden, something that will make a genuine difference both for individuals and for society as a whole.”
