HiQ wins strategically important order from FMV HiQ has received a new development assignment from FMV, the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration. The order concerns the development of an international edition that is to be used in simulators for training foreign pilots on the JAS 39 Gripen fighter aircraft. "Developing the simulators involves advanced technology at the highest level and HiQ are specialists in simulators for the defence sector. We have worked in this area since 1992. As other countries choose the JAS 39 Gripen, this will increase opportunities for us to carry out international assignments via our cooperation with FMV. The order allows HiQ to support the JAS 39 Gripen internationally," says Peter Caap, Managing Director of HiQ Approve AB. "The simulators, which are used to train pilots to fly the JAS 39 Gripen, will be developed in parallel with the aircraft itself. Our contribution will be to take care of new system requirements and to produce cost-effective solutions using new technology," continues Caap. Simulators are used for flight training of pilots in a tactical environment, but also for training technical personnel. The advantage of flying a simulator rather than a real aircraft is that the costs of a pass in a simulator are considerably lower. In addition, personnel can be trained for factors that cannot be practised during a real flight for safety reasons.
