STOCKHOLM PRIDE AND HiQ AIMING FOR WORLD RECORD IN LIVE STREAMING

IT consultancy HiQ aims to set a new world record in streaming during the Stockholm Pride festival. The company is encouraging all visitors to broadcast live straight from the parade using their mobiles with the goal of getting into the Guinness World Records.

Earlier this year 10,000 live streams were broadcast in one day during the revolution in Egypt. This record will now be challenged during the Stockholm Pride Parade on 6 August. Today HiQ is launching a Facebook page to encourage Pride visitors to become reporters with their own live broadcasts during the parade.

"The record attempt is to show the link between openness for both technology and people. This year we've seen in many places around the world that technology can be a driving force to open up societies, and now we want to do the same thing with a new theme. Naturally, we also want to spark the competitive instinct of our visitors to show that Sweden can actually set a world record during the festival," says Peter Häggström, Marketing Manager at HiQ.

The visitors who have the most streams through Bambuser on 6 August have a chance to win a new iPhone. As a result of this year's theme for Stockholm Pride of “Openness”, the theme of the broadcasts will be "Celebrating victories for a more open society".

"We want to spread our message for a more open society as broadly as possible and think the record attempt is an excellent initiative which we will be supporting throughout the festival," says Helena Hellström Gefwert, press officer for Stockholm Pride.

Broadcasts will be streamed with Bambuser and will be displayed and stored on HiQ's website, www.hiq.se. HiQ will also broadcast on its website live from the Stockholm Pride Parade throughout the day on 6 August with radio personality Roger Nordin as host.
