2013 Stevie Awards was the largest competition of their history with the presence of 18 nations

Washington, DC – November 15, 2013 – HMA Cultural Marketing, Inc. a woman- and minority-owned communications and social marketing firm announced last week that it won the Multicultural Communications Campaign of the Year category for Women in Business. HMA earned its spot for the company’s successful campaign National Influenza Vaccination Disparities Partnership (NIVDP), which has built awareness about the benefits of flu vaccination through innovative media strategies.

The Women in Business honors women executives, entrepreneurs, employees and the companies they run – worldwide.  The Stevie Awards have been hailed as the world’s premier business awards.

“We are very proud of the recognition from the Stevie Awards,” said HMA Cultural Marketing CEO and Founder Irma Maldonado. “We are equally proud of the difference HMA is making in addressing health disparities that impact people who are underserved in our communities.”

More than 1,200 nominations were considered in more than 90 categories, including Executive of the Year, Entrepreneur of the Year, Women Helping Women, and Communications Campaign of the Year.

In two years the NIVDP campaign has worked with over 500 grassroots organizations, community clinics, health departments and corporate partners to vaccinate thousands of people across the United States and to build awareness about the benefits of flu vaccination through innovative media strategies.  This includes the development of the first Spanish-language motion comic book for the Centers for Diseases Control and Prevention (CDC) — Un Amor Perdido.  “For 10 years we have been recognizing the achievements of women in business, and this year’s nominations were the most impressive class the judges have ever reviewed,” said Michael Gallagher, founder and president of the Stevie Awards.

The winners were honored at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York.
