Holmen is celebrating the International Day of Forests, today on the 21st of March by planting a tree in the name of everyone who signs up to ‘plant it forward’.

"To plant a tree, watch it grow and see it come to use is a timeless pleasure. On the International Day of Forests, we are extending that opportunity to anyone out there who wants to mitigate climate change and plant it forward", says Henrik Sjölund, President and CEO of Holmen.

Holmen is wholly committed to mitigating climate change and to leave nature better off. To spread the beauty of forestry and knowledge of its possibility to mitigate climate change, Holmen is ‘planting it forward’ by planting a tree in the name of the contributor. Everyone who signs up will receive a Certificate of Care and be able to make a symbolic contribution for a better climate.

"Forests transform carbon dioxide into oxygen. They are nature’s own carbon storage solution. They are a seed for change, and I hope we can spread the knowledge about how responsible forestry can mitigate climate change by planting it forward", concludes Henrik Sjölund.

Holmen’s business concept is to own and add value to the forest. The forest holdings form the basis of the business – an ecocycle in which the raw material grows and is refined into everything from wood for climate-smart building to renewable packaging, magazines and books. The forest is managed to provide a good annual return and stable value growth while our production operations are run with a focus on profitability and greater value added. In 2018 Holmen’s net sales were just over SEK 16 billion and the group has approx. 3 000 employees. Holmen’s shares are listed on Nasdaq Stockholm, Large Cap. For more information, visit holmen.com.
