Preferential course fees for Home Learning College students and alumni

The Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB) has announced changes to the minimum qualification standards for membership that affect all Home Learning College students. The new rules come into force from 1 July 2010 after which ICB ‘Associate Member’ or ‘Full Member’ status will only be awarded to those with proven manual and computerised bookkeeping skills. The Level II certificates in Manual and Computerised Bookkeeping required for Associate membership can be gained via Home Learning College’s Practical Bookkeeping and Sage Computerised Bookkeeping courses. Students who have completed or are due to complete one of these courses can take advantage of discounted fees for the outstanding module. Similarly, students who have gained the Level III Diploma in Manual Bookkeeping via Home Learning College’s Advanced Bookkeeping course will be obliged to complete a new computerised bookkeeping Level III Diploma to gain full membership. Home Learning College is currently working with the ICB to develop this new course material, which is due to be launched in September 2010. By offering all modules separately, Home Learning College is providing a flexible route for bookkeeping professionals to upgrade their skills and retain their ICB membership. New students will have the option of studying individual modules or taking advantage of combined courses at Level II and III that will encompass the required manual and computerised elements in one package for the first time. These changes have been introduced to make ICB membership even more meaningful in today’s competitive business environment. Home Learning College Academic Director Dave Snow comments: “An ICB qualification represents a trusted route to a successful bookkeeping career. Every year Home Learning College helps thousands of students to complete their ICB course and gain membership to this respected organisation. These changes will ensure that ICB qualifications continue to be associated with the highest levels of knowledge and professionalism within the bookkeeping industry.” The benefits of ICB membership include: • Professional letters after your name • Access to the 'members only' section on the Institute's web site • Notification of Bookkeeping Job Vacancies in your area • Free Technical advice line covering all aspects of bookkeeping • Free legal advice line for business and personal usage • Free access to technical and legal downloads • Free updates on changes in legislation which might affect bookkeeping • Free advice and guidance on setting up a private practice • Free information on employment opportunities which arise • Regional meetings • CPD (continuing professional development) seminars • Access to ICB Plus - Exclusive offers on professional and everyday products and services For more information on Home Learning College’s ICB courses visit http://www.homelearningcollege.com/Courses/Book-Keeping/ ENDS
