Horatio Alger Association of Canada Offers Ontario Scholarship Application
Association Provides Financial Support to High School Students to Pay for Higher Ed
(September 26, 2012, Ontario, Can) The Horatio Alger Association of Canada is pleased to announce that it has opened the 2013 Ontario Scholarship application. High school seniors who are looking to pursue a college degree are encouraged to apply from now until November 1, 2012, to receive up to
$5,000 in financial aid for tuition, room and board and other school-related expenses. Applications to the Horatio Alger Ontario Scholarship Program can be completed at https://www.horatioalger.org/canadascholarships
Founded in 2009, the Horatio Alger Association of Canada awards scholarships to students who have demonstrated integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity, while demonstrating strength of character, financial need, a good academic record, a commitment to pursue a college or university education and a desire to contribute to society.
The eligibility criteria to be considered for the Horatio Alger Ontario Scholarship Program are as follows:
• Enrollment full-time as a high school senior and taking classes during spring 2012, progressing normally toward graduation in the spring/summer 2012, with plans to enter a university or college no later than the fall following graduation;
• A strong commitment to pursuing and completing a degree at an accredited public or private college or university in Canada;
• Critical financial need ($50,000 or less net income per family is preferred. If higher an explanation must be provided);
• Involvement in co-curricular and community activities;
• A minimum academic level of 4;
• Attend a high school and live in Ontario, Canada; and
• Canadian citizenship.
