SQL Server also offers almost endless possibilities for saving guest information and transaction history. Microsoft SQL Server 2000 is the sophisticated and professional solution for a bigger organization, while Microsoft MSDE 2000 is sufficient for most small to medium-size hotels. MSDE has all the advantages of SQL Server, but is simpler to install and cheaper, because the database license is included in the Hotellinx Suite license. Microsoft Jet Engine 2000 remains the simplest solution for a small property and for trial, evaluation and training purposes, because it is included in the Hotellinx Suite license and automatically installed with the Hotellinx Suite setup. Programs, reports, service functions look the same with all databases No matter what database solution is selected, programs and reports look the same, and the average user does not have to know what database Hotellinx Suite runs on. Backups, software and database upgrades and other service functions for all database options are included in Hotellinx Suite 6, and no special database knowledge is required to run them. The final decision regarding what database to use does not have to be taken before or even when the software is purchased, and it is also possible to upgrade the database to SQL after it has already been in use for a while.
