TV show concepts require a lot of imagination from concept creators and producing teams. The aim is to provide a show that keeps the viewers by the TV entertaining evening after evening. MTV´s “A Double Shot at Love” reality dating show producers found a FogScreen® projection screen for an extra effect. FogScreen® projection screen produces a thin curtain of “dry” fog that serves as a translucent projection screen, displaying images that literally float in the air.

All the important principles of FogScreen® projection screen technology are patented. The basic components of the screen are a laminar, non-turbulent airflow that remains thin, crisp and protected from turbulence. The fog is made with ultrasonic waves and ordinary tap water - no chemicals are needed – and it feels dry and cool to the touch. After the screen is formed by the fog, images can be projected onto it. The FogScreen® projection screen can be translucent or fully opaque. It works very much like any ordinary screen in terms of projection: the image is spectacular in normal daylight, but the darker the room the better the results. FogScreen® projection screen is a stand-alone product that can be integrated into any environment. “For Double Shot at Love, we were looking to add something new and dramatic to the elimination set. We wanted this to be something that had never been used in reality before. A friend told me about FogScreen, and I began to research the possibilities for using one. The concept that we settled on was to use the Fogscreen as a barrier between the twisted reality show world and the day to day life of eliminated cast members. So, when the eliminated exit the set, they are forced to cross through this wall of fog, thus signifying the end of their story on the show and their return to regular life”, tells producer Sam Cotler from 495 Productions. “Fogscreen was a great choice for this show. The Fogscreen team was very helpful with the installation, and the machine was simple to maintain over the course of our shoot. Due to our location, we needed to install the Fogscreen outside of the door, which opened it up to wind issues. However, it was still able to be used, even on the windiest nights. Next time, I hope to use a Fogscreen for an indoor application, which will show the full capability of the machine”, he continues. Millions of people have already walked through the FogScreen® projection screen or seen it in shows. It has fascinated visitors e.g. in Disney World, Ripley's Believe it or Not, Disney movie Enchanted promotion, Elite Model Look World Final 2008, Playboy's Super Saturday Night Party, Coca-Cola ZERO product launch and Eurovision 2007. http://www.mtv.com/ontv/dyn/a_double_shot_at_love/videos-full-episodes.jhtml
