Celebration of learners' success
The learning achievements of around 35 Housing 21 staff members have been recognised with a celebratory presentation at Birmingham City Football Ground.
Representatives from Skills for Care, the Association for Real Change and Business in the Community were among those joining Housing 21 and other local business partners to celebrate the success of Housing 21’s midlands-based staff in gaining their National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs).
As well as a presentation of certificates to employees achieving their NVQs, the event also highlighted the achievement of Jodie Knight, the first young person to complete Housing 21’s recently launched apprenticeship scheme in health and social care.
Jodie, aged 18, said: "Originally I wanted to work with children, but then I saw what was on offer from Housing 21. I’ve learnt how to provide good care for older people and the training has helped me be more confident. I’d recommend it to anyone."
Housing 21 is at the forefront of vocational training within the care and health sector, with over 600 employees achieving nationally accredited qualifications during the last year.
Liz Scott-Walter, vocational services business partner for Housing 21 said: "Housing 21 is committed to investing in the professional development of our workforce and we are delighted to be able to celebrate the success of our staff here today.
"These employees have paved the way for a new era for Housing 21 as we offer all new and existing employees an opportunity of completing an adult apprenticeship in health and social care as well as the chance to develop professionally and gain more confidence."
Housing 21 has been working in partnership with City & Guilds, Skills for Care, the National Apprenticeship Service and the National Employee Service on the new Qualifications and Credit Framework (CQF), which was introduced in January.
