Housing 21 has been selected as the provider of choice for two extra care schemes in Leyland, Lancashire. The contract for Greenwood Court and Bannister Brook House, which are adjacent to each other, will begin in the New Year.

The leading provider of housing and care services will be contracted to provide the core element of the service, ensuring that two staff are on site for all day hours with the provision of waking night cover for both sites.

Care was provided by Claimar Care, which is now part of the Housing 21 group, until 2007. Recent resident feedback through service user consultation was very positive on the prospect of care returning to Housing 21’s branch staff in Preston, who will manage the service.

Commenting on the new contract, Jane Hinde, North West Regional Services Director for Housing 21 said: “We are delighted to have been selected to provide this service and I know the team in Preston are looking forward to working with the residents at Greenwood Court and Bannister Brook House.”

The contract, worth an estimated £210,000 per annum, is for an initial 12 months with the option of extending for a further five years. Earlier this year Housing 21 was also successful in retaining the Crisis and Rehabilitation Service contract in Lancashire.
