Official opening for Cirencester extra care
Guests from Housing 21, Cotswold District Council and Berkeley Homes have joined residents of Mulberry Court in Cirencester to mark the official opening of the extra care development for older people.
To mark the occasion Cotswold District Council Chairman, Cllr Carolyn Nicolle, joined first resident Jack Freeman in the cutting of a cake which had been specially designed in the shape of the scheme. Commenting on Mulberry Court, which provides 60 one and two bedroom apartments for people aged 55 and over, Cllr Nicolle said: “I have seen for myself how this attractive new development will provide extra care for residents while maintaining – and perhaps even improving – their quality of life.
“Some people do not enjoy an ideal quality of life, especially when they may require support and care and perhaps feel isolated in their own home. Mulberry Court is an ideal solution. This new development provides the means to continue to live independently in a safe, caring and warm environment.”
Residents at Mulberry Court benefit from on-site facilities including a residents’ lounge, restaurant, hairdressing salon, guest room for family and friends and landscaped gardens. The restaurant and hairdressing salon are also open to others living in the local community.
Simon Bostock, regional services director for Housing 21 said: “Mulberry Court is a delightful scheme and one that we’re very proud of. Not only does it provide high quality accommodation and good facilities, but it is also in an excellent location. It is really pleasing to see how well the residents have settled into their new homes.”
Andrew Saunders-Davies, Divisional Chairman of Berkeley Homes said ”We are proud to have worked in partnership with Housing 21 and the HCA in the delivery of Mulberry Court, which is at the heart of the Kingshill development.”
The £9.6 million complex, which has received £5.4 million of investment from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), welcomed its first residents at the end of last year.
