Wednesday 29th February, 3-6pm at Thomas Place, James Whatman Way, Maidstone

An exciting new housing scheme for older people in Maidstone is to be showcased later this month. A special open day is being held at Thomas Place in James Whatman Way on Wednesday 29th February between 3pm and 6pm.

Housing 21’s latest extra care scheme in the county, part of the exciting Kent History and Library Centre development, will welcome its first residents in March. Visitors to the open day will be able to meet with staff, take a look around the facilities, including the hair and beauty salon and sample the catering from the scheme’s restaurant, @ThePantry which will be headed by leading chef Paul Elliott.

Providing affordable rented accommodation to meet the needs of people aged 55 and over, Thomas Place offers 57 one and two bedroom apartments. Extra care housing enables residents to live independently with 24 hour on-site care and support tailored to individual needs.

Commenting on the new development, Julia Godwin, development programme manager for Housing 21 said: “Thomas Place is a really unique scheme. Residents will be able to enjoy the independence and security of extra care living but will also have easy access to the adjoining landmark Kent History and Library Centre.”

The development has been built in a partnership between Housing 21, Kent County Council, Bouygues Development, Warings and West Kent Housing Association with funding from the Homes and Communities Agency.
