New Twister™ patents

Report this content

The invention of the diamond impregnated floor pads was made by the founder of HTC, Håkan Thysell in 2005 and the invention was followed by an immediate patent application. The product, under the trade name Twister™, was launched locally in Sweden the same year and internationally at ISSA in Amsterdam in spring 2006.

HTC has a whole family of patents supporting the innovation behind the Twister™ product. In Europe we have 6 applications covering both stone/stone like floors but also polymer based floors like vinyl and PVC.

The 24th of March 2011, it was decided that the European Patent Office (EPO) will approve two of the remaining six patent applications. These two, EP1877219 and EP1787751 covers the use of diamond impregnated floor pads on polymer based floors and also general use of diamond impregnated floor pads in combination with auto scrubbers (scrubber/dryers) on natural stone and stone like floors.

Twister™ is a patented system for daily floor cleaning consisting of a floor pad prepared with billions of microscopic diamonds which clean and polish the floor mechanically. Twister™ is a completely chemical free system and the only thing added during daily cleaning is water.  Independent tests regarding the result of Twisters™ ability to clean and polish show that the floor not only gets shiny, but also becomes cleaner. Furthermore, Twister™ eliminates the need for periodic maintenance.
