Huawei and Netcom Showcase Live Commercial 4G/LTE Services

[Oslo, Norway, 22 June 2009] Huawei and Netcom (subsidiary of TeliaSonera in Norway) today announced a successful showcase of live services over the world’s first commercial 4G/LTE (Long Term Evolution) network in Oslo, Norway after the world's first mobile broadband Internet connection was achieved early this month.

Versatile applications that have a high requirement on bandwidth and latency such as VoD (Video on Demand), video streaming, FTP (File Transfer Protocol), web surfing, video conferencing and video telephony were demonstrated under real outfield network conditions. Through the adoption of key LTE technologies such as MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) and OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplex), the network is able to deliver download peak data rate of up to 150Mbps in one LTE cell with multiple terminals.
