HUHTAMäKI OYJ: EGM APPROVES LOWERING OF SHARE CAPITAL An Extraordinary Shareholders' Meeting of Huhtamäki Oyj, the Finnish consumer packaging company with worldwide operations, convened on October 10, 2001. The meeting approved the lowering of the company's share capital from EUR 107.018 million to EUR 86.033 million by invalidating a total of 6,172,015 company shares acquired by the company and a subsidiary. The amount corresponds to 19.6% of the shares in issue. The shareholders' meeting also approved amendments to the company's Articles of Association as proposed by the Board. The changes were caused by the lowering of the share capital and by the termination of a shareholders' agreement between the company's principal shareholders, the Finnish Cultural Foundation, The Association of the Finnish Cultural Foundation and the Stichting Van Leer Group Foundation. The latter sold its Huhtamaki shares in September. The company's Board of Directors continues with seven members, following the resignation in September of the two members nominated by the Stichting Van Leer Group Foundation.
