Badger Explorer ASA (BXPL) announces today that the Board of Directors has appointed Steinar Bakke as its next Chief Executive Officer, succeeding David Blacklaw, who will step down in September for personal reasons in order to live nearer his US based family.

Bakke has broad experience of both large and small organizations, including drilling-related start-ups, and has extensive knowledge of subsurface engineering. His career spans over 40 years both internationally and in Norway, predominantly within Schlumberger.

“We are delighted with the appointment of Mr. Bakke as the new CEO,” said Marcus Hansson, Chairman of the Board of BXPL. “This appointment continues the Company’s drive to achieve commercial operations as soon as possible.”

BXPL and David Blacklaw have agreed a structure whereby Blacklaw can continue to contribute to the Badger Explorer development on a consultancy basis. “I have had an active role in the recruitment of my successor and am confident that in Steinar Bakke, BXPL will have a strong, experienced and competent leader, who will guide the company effectively toward our commercialization goals for the Badger Explorer project” said Blacklaw.

“Leading Badger Explorer is a great opportunity for me” said Bakke. “I look forward to seeing the game-changing potential of the Badger Explorer becoming a reality in the near future”.

Bakke will take up his new position on or before 1st October 2013.
