Iain Speak, the former CEO of Bibby Supply Chain Services, has secured two significant new roles just weeks after forming his own business, Iain Speak Consultancy.

Speak has been appointed as a consultant for Taiwan-based Dimerco Express Group, a global logistics service provider and a major freight forwarder. The firm currently enjoys significant business from companies in China and within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). His brief is to work closely with senior executives to help accelerate global development in Europe, potentially through acquisition.

Established in 1971, Dimerco is a key player in the world of international logistics and is registered on the Taipei stock exchange, posting annual revenues of nearly $570m USD in 2014.

At the same time Speak has been appointed non-executive Director of Suffolk-based Century Logistics, an innovative e-fulfilment and warehousing company which helps its customers to be more profitable by taking responsibility for add-on services such as providing customer service call centres to product engineering and e-commerce.

The family business was formed in 1997 by Stephen and Ann Basey-Fisher, who will both work closely with Speak to prepare their business for the next phase of an ambitious expansion plan.

Commenting on his appointments, Speak says: “These are two hugely exciting opportunities with organisations where I see significant potential for growth. I’m absolutely thrilled to have been asked to play a role in the next stages of their development.

“They represent the perfect opportunity for me to use my 17 years’ experience with Bibby Distribution, and previous 18 years with TNT Logistics, to maximum effect.”

Speak elected to step-down from his leadership role at Bibby Supply Chain Services at the end of December 2014 in order to set-up his own consultancy business. Sir Michael Bibby, Managing Director of Bibby Line Group, has already appointed him to continue his involvement with the Group on a consultancy basis.

Speak has enjoyed a highly successful career in the logistics sector. He has twice (in 2010 and 2011) been named in Commercial Motor’s Top 20 Power Players – a list of the people believed to have the most influence and exert the most control over the road transport industry. In 2014 he received the Chairman’s award from the UK Warehousing Association (UKWA) for his outstanding lifetime contribution to the sector.
