I Support Street Art: Minsk Mural in Best of 2015
On January 15, I Support Street Art, a website designed to inform and support urban street art from all over the world, published its Best Street Art of 2015 list. Among more than 60 works featured in the list is a Minsk mural, which was created by Millo, an Italian street artist who paints large scale murals in simple black and white lines and occasional color. The mural can be seen on one of the houses on Brilevskaya Street.
The Italian artist visited Minsk for the Urban Myths project. Millo didn’t have a sketch, but the idea for the mural came to his mind after communicating with people and exploring the city. According to the artist, he never seeks to copy the city in his works. His city is a combination of generalized images that have the traces of all its residents.
Millo’s mural is not the only one in Minsk to be featured in prestigious street art rankings. In December 2015, Street Art News, an online guide to the world of street art, included a piece by Guido Van Helten in its November top ten compilation of the best street art pieces in the world. The impressive mural showed a girl in a vyshyvanka, and could be seen on Rabkorovskaya Street.
The I Support Street Art catalogue was created to promote street art. It features new murals from different countries, interview with artists, and information on the street art culture.
