Customer expands use of IBS Advanced Warehouse Management (Dynaman) to run distribution center in San Salvo

Milan, Italy, July 8, 2010 – International Business Systems (STO: IBS B) the leading business application supplier for wholesale and distribution, announced today that Conad Adriatico, the Italian food retailer, had chosen IBS Advanced Warehouse Management to automate its new distribution center in San Salvo.

Conad Adriatico has been using IBS Advanced Warehouse Management (also known as IBS Dynaman™) in its warehouse in San Salvo since 2005. It is the main distribution center for staple foods, drinks and non-food, shipping to more than 300 retail outlets across mainly the east of Italy.

In order to further optimize its distribution network as well as reduce transport costs, Conad Adriatico is investing € 25m in a new warehouse facility, for fresh and frozen food, on the existing San Salvo site.  This will enable deliveries to supermarkets and other outlets, which include fresh and frozen foods in special air-conditioned trucks and trailers, to be made in single deliveries from one single distribution center, dramatically reducing transport costs. The entire project will last for three years during which different temperature zones within the warehouse will be implemented in a phased approach.

Crucial to the project will be IBS Advanced Warehouse Management, part of the IBS Enterprise Distribution Management suite, which will help with all aspects of the warehouse management from yard and dock management, receiving, put-away, storage, replenishment, picking, packaging, loading and more.

“We have been using IBS Dynaman since 2005, and its advanced capabilities have helped us optimize our distribution center processes to better serve our customers”, said Mirco Papili, Information Systems and Logistics Operations Director of Conad Adriatico. “As we look to expand our operations in San Salvo to cater for fresh and frozen foods as well, IBS was our natural partner of choice to help us ensure the new facility runs as smoothly as our existing facilities”.

“Our business applications are running in some of the most sophisticated and advanced distribution companies in the world, and our Advanced Warehouse Management software, IBS Dynaman, runs some of the best warehouse and distribution centers”, commented Andy Bailey, CMO of International Business Systems. “We are proud to have customers like Conad Adriatico, and look forward to assisting them further as they begin to expand their distribution facilities in Italy”.
