Stockholm, May 14, 2008. IBS has announced that it has provided car distributor “smart USA” with a complete automotive ERP system. The IBS Automotive software will manage the import and distribution of the “smart fortwo” into the US marketplace. The solution was implemented within a tight seven-month go-live deadline, in order to be ready for the official launch in January 2008.

IBS is providing “smart USA” with a comprehensive automotive ERP system. It will allow the company to manage vehicle and parts ordering, as well as control warranty claims from the dealer network back to the manufacturer in Germany. IBS was selected because of its proven capability to manage complex automotive supply chains and its flexibility, which allows it to support “smart” from its start-up position and throughout its growth in the US market.

The implementation was a great success. smart USA had a seven month deadline to be ready in time for the planned launch and with the help of IBS, the ERP system was delivered on time and on budget. smart USA was launched on schedule in January 2008 and the IT and supply chain systems were all in place to help ensure a timely start-up.

Mark Cockings, Senior Vice President Sales & Marketing for IBS, comments: “This rapid implementation demonstrates our ability to deliver specialist large-scale projects. IBS has provided industry-specific solutions to vehicle manufacturers, distributors and suppliers across the globe and has brought all its knowledge, experience and commitment to ensure that the “smart USA” implementation was a complete success. We look forward to providing further support to “smart USA” as it goes through its expected growth in the US.”
