One of Sweden’s leading sawmill and timber industry concerns, Martinsons, is readying itself for an upswing in the economy. The company has signed on to implement a new Distribution System – IBS Enterprise for Windows, along with the industry-specific solution IBS Wood – to optimize production, warehousing and distribution. The agreement is valued at 5.5 m SEK.

Martinsons is one of Sweden’s largest family-owned wood processing businesses, with a comprehensive product line that includes milled lumber, laminates (glulam), wooden bridges and walkways, and construction framing systems. The group’s latest annual revenue was 1.2 m SEK. Martinsons is preparing for a positive swing in the economy with the help of IBS distribution and industry-specific software. The IBS system will integrate three production units with the sales division, creating an overview and streamlining the company’s entire supply chain – from production to sales. Kenneth Wallin, CEO of Martinsons Trä AB, states, ”We’re now again seeing a rise in demand. To make operations more effective, we looked for a solution that could meet our requirement for consolidating information from production, sales and distribution – in one integrated system. The choice went naturally to IBS and their solution, which is unique and developed specifically for our industry.” Ulf Zetterberg, Senior Vice President at IBS, says, “We’re of course quite pleased with this agreement. Martinsons is a highly interesting and respected business that stands in the absolute forefront of what for us is a very important industry. This shows that IBS is the obvious partner for the sawmill and timber sector.” The implementation of the IBS Enterprise for Windows system, along with IBS Wood, will begin after this summer and will be in full operation by the end of the first half of 2010. About IBS Wood IBS Wood is developed to help companies handle information in an integrated flow. The concept is built on IBS Enterprise, complemented with specially adapted solutions for the wood industry, sawmills and businesses that handle timber-based materials. IBS Wood is powerful distribution software that manages sawmill processes. The solution forms a common information base within a company, laying the foundation for a unified, integrated structure. Information is coordinated from sales orders out to work orders in production, and on through invoicing and financial accounting. Reporting is automated through direct links to production data, which enables constantly updated, high-quality information. IBS is the market-leading supplier of distribution solutions for the sawmill and timber industry.
