ICA introduces new organization

Solna, November 5, 2008

ICA is introducing a new, more decentralized organization. The new organization will lead to more efficient work processes and provide opportunities for cost reductions and at the same time simplify administration at the Group level.

Large parts of ICAs current Group functions are integrated in its subsidiaries, particularly ICA Sverige. ICA Sverige therefore has responsibility to coordinate certain issues for other companies in the Group, for example development of private label products.

"In order to respond to local conditions, ICA must be able to better adapt its stores and product ranges to the various needs of customers in Sweden, Norway and the Baltic countries," says Kenneth Bengtsson, President and CEO of ICA AB.

In connection with the changes, Anders Nyberg has decided to leave ICA and the position of Executive Vice President of ICA AB. Also, ICA Sveriges CEO, Peder Larsson, has decided to leave ICA. The recruitment of a new, permanent CEO of ICA Sverige has begun. In the meantime, Kenneth Bengtsson, ICA ABs President and CEO, will serve as acting CEO of ICA Sverige. At the same time, Ingrid Jonasson Blank has been appointed Executive Vice President of ICA Sverige.

A new position as COO has been established at the Group level with responsibility for improvement programs and productivity gains in close cooperation with the CEOs of the individual companies. Mats Holgerson will take over as COO of ICA AB and will report directly to the president.

ICAs non-food operations will become a separate subsidiary of the Group. Björn Abild has been named the CEO of this company.
