ICA store sales during April 2006

Preliminary figures put April 2006 combined sales for ICA retailers in Sweden at SEK 7,067 million, including VAT, up SEK 610 million or 9.4 percent compared to the same month last year. The increase for comparable units was 7.7 percent.

Since the beginning of the year, sales including VAT have risen by 6.1 percent to SEK 26,886 million. For comparable units, the increase for the same period was 4.4 percent.

The sales trend during the month benefited from the fact that Easter sales fell in April this year but in March last year. When account is taken of price and calendar effects, the increase in volume in April was 7.5 percent as an aggregate figure, and 5.8 per cent for comparable units.

Breakdown of April sales for ICA stores in Sweden:

Maxi ICA Stormarknad stores reported an increase in sales of 19.5 percent to SEK 1,579 million. The increase for comparable units was 9.9 percent. Accumulated sales have increased by 14.0 percent to SEK 5,833 million, whilst comparable units have increased by 4.4 percent.

ICA Kvantum stores reported an increase in sales of 11.2 percent to SEK 1,942 million. The increase for comparable units was 9.8 percent. Accumulated sales have increased by 7.4 percent to SEK 7,362 million, whilst comparable units have increased by 5.7 percent.

ICA Supermarket stores reported an increase in sales of 5.2 percent to SEK 2,487 million. The increase for comparable units was 6.1 percent. Accumulated sales have increased by 2.6 percent to SEK 9,589 million, whilst comparable units have increased by 3.7 percent.

ICA Nära stores reported an increase in sales of 3.2 percent to SEK 1,059 million. The increase for comparable units was 5.0 percent. Accumulated sales have increased by 1.8 percent to SEK 4,102 million, whilst comparable units have increased by 3.5 percent.
