Preliminary figures put May 2009 combined sales for ICA retailers in Sweden at SEK 7,645 million, excluding VAT, up SEK 278 million or 3.8 percent compared to the same month last year. The increase for comparable units was 3.2 percent.
Since the beginning of the year, sales excluding VAT have risen by 5.7 percent to SEK 36,325 million. For comparable units, the increase for the same period was 4.7 percent.
Breakdown of May sales for ICA stores in Sweden:
Maxi ICA Stormarknad stores reported an increase in sales of 9.4 percent to SEK 2,080 million. The increase for comparable units was 6.7 percent. Accumulated sales have increased by 13.0 percent to SEK 9,818 million, whilst comparable units have increased by 8.3 percent.
ICA Kvantum stores reported an increase in sales of 2.5 percent to SEK 1,862 million. The increase for comparable units was 2.4 percent. Accumulated sales have increased by 3.3 percent to SEK 8,931 million, whilst comparable units have increased by 3.6 percent.
ICA Supermarket stores reported an increase in sales of 1.8 percent to SEK 2,517 million. The increase for comparable units was 2.1 percent. Accumulated sales have increased by 3.3 percent to SEK 11,963 million, whilst comparable units have increased by 3.5 percent.
ICA Nära stores reported an increase in sales of 0.7 percent to SEK 1,185 million. The increase for comparable units was 1.4 percent. Accumulated sales have increased by 2.9 percent to SEK 5,613 million, whilst comparable units have increased by 3.4 percent.
