Mats Holgerson appointed as new COO of ICA Meny
Solna: January 30, 2006
On February 1, Mats Holgerson will take up his duties as the new COO for the ICA AB subsidiary ICA Meny where he will evaluate strategic alternatives for the company.
Mats Holgerson succeeds Björn Krasse, who will be moving to a position with another company. Björn Krasse leaves ICA Meny after four productive years during which he successfully turned the company around from experiencing significant losses to posting a profit in 2005.
Mats Holgerson has a distinguished career at Esso/Statoil, mainly in the gas station and convenience store sectors. For the past six years he has been the CEO of Statoil Detaljhandel Skandinavia AS, which was 50 percent owned by ICA AB and 50 percent owned by Statoil during 1999–2004.
"A comprehensive restructuring is underway in the restaurant and institutional catering market. In light of those changes, Mats Holgerson will be tasked with reviewing the strategic alternatives for the future of ICA Meny," says Kenneth Bengtsson, President and CEO, ICA AB.
"With his extensive experience in the convenience store sector and as former CEO of Statoil Detaljhandel, ICA Menys largest customer, Mats has the experience we are looking for to meet these challenges," says Bengtsson.
Mats Holgerson will also be a member of the ICA AB Executive Board.
