ICDC COLLEGE LOWERS TUITION TO ASSIST STUDENTS IN NEED OF CAREER TRAINING
LOS ANGELES – May 18, 2011 – ICDC College announced today that it has lowered its tuition fees by over $1,000 for all of its diploma programs offered both online and on campus in an effort to make career training education more affordable to economically struggling students and their families.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the U.S. unemployment rate rose slightly to 9% over the past month despite job growth in a number of key business sectors. These statistics indicate that millions of Americans are still currently unemployed. As the nation continues to recover from the effects of a down economy, many people are considering the need to return to school to become more marketable to employers. President Obama, in his recent remarks to Congress, also emphasized the need for Americans to commit to a year or more of higher education or career training.
“The mission of ICDC College is to provide students with career training designed to make them more employable and thereby help to change their lives,” says David Hall, Regional Director, ICDC College. “We cannot fulfill our mission of helping students train for new-life changing careers, unless we also consider how to make education more affordable for those in need, and continually strive to improve and expand our curriculum to meet the demands of a consistently changing workforce.”
ICDC College distinguishes itself from other educational institutions by offering both career training and job placement assistance to help students qualify for entry-level employment in a number of industries, including addiction counseling, business, health care, forensic science and homeland security. ICDC College’s appeal is that it provides affordable, job-specific skills training in more than 24 in-demand careers, making ICDC graduates more competitive in a marketplace overcrowded with job seekers.
Additionally, ICDC College continues to make education more accessible within the local community by offering free G.E.D. classes in partnership with the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) at their four campuses located in Hollywood, Huntington Park, South Bay and Van Nuys. “ICDC College recognizes that some students have not been able to complete a high school diploma due to various life challenges,” says Lisa L. McGloiry, J.D., Director Media Relations and Community Outreach, ICDC College. “That’s why we partner with our local communities and open our doors to everyone who wants to further their education, even at a fundamental level, to help advance their careers. And, as a further benefit, ICDC College pays for individuals to earn their G.E.D. too.”
