MEDICX PHARMACY APSLEY WINS PHARMACY DESIGN AWARD
MEDICX Pharmacy was awarded third prize in an industry leading design award for its practice in Hemel Hempstead.
MedicX Pharmacy Apsley beat off tough competition from pharmacies across the UK to be awarded third prize in the Chemist + Druggist Platinum Design Awards which recognise pharmacies that have created the best healthcare environments.
The prize-giving ceremony was held within the prestigious surroundings of the Wimbledon All England Lawn Tennis Club. Two members of the MedicX Pharmacy team, Development Director Chris Ball and NHS Contracts Manager Alison Potter attended the event as well as Chris Jones, MD of T3 Retail Design, MedicX Pharmacy’s design partner.
In an interview with C+D magazine which is available to view online, Chris Ball explained: “We’re very pleased to win the award - it’s extremely rewarding to be recognised for doing something for patients and for the health of the local community.
“We went through a very structured design process with our design partners, T3 Retail Design and worked together to achieve something in a challenging space that suited us operationally and our patients.”
A total of 18 pharmacies entered the design awards, and MedicX were among six which were short-listed. It is the third industry award that MedicX Pharmacy has picked up in the last three years.
Judges were impressed by the patient-centred facilities which provide a smooth and efficient flow of services from traditional dispensing to enhanced services such as medication reviews, diagnostic screening, testing and assessments.
Facilities at MedicX Pharmacy Hemel Hempstead include a dedicated prescription ‘pick up point’ which allows patients to speak to the pharmacist in a semi-private area, a touch screen information point, a healthcare TV channel and a large reception desk which allows advice and information to be provided discreetly and with confidence.
The practice is also equipped with MedicX Pharmacy’s pioneering Healthspace facility which provides four consultation rooms available for fellow health practitioners to provide patient services such as physiotherapy and chiropody. There’s also comfortable seating and a children’s play area.
MedicX Pharmacy Apsley is open daily until 10pm including weekends and bank holidays.
