NICOLA GOES TO GREAT LENGTHS FOR CHARITY

Scott Rees & Co solicitor Nicola Stanwix was among thousands of swimmers to take part in the Great North Swim at Lake Windermere.

The 27-year-old braved the cool depths of Windermere for a mile swim to raise funds for the Rainbow Children’s Trust.

Hailed as the UK’s largest outdoor swimming event, the British Gas Great North Swim attracted 10,000 swimmers of mixed abilities including races for elite athletes. 

Together the participants swam a combined mileage of more than 10,600 miles - the distance between London and Sydney in Australia.

Nicola, who was sponsored £100 by Scott Rees, said: “It was a fantastic experience and I was pleased with my performance, I did it in 40 minutes!  But there’s always scope for improvement next year!

“The best bit was being involved in the day with everyone and just being part of the experience; I think the worst part was when we got to the half way mark, the water was a little choppy!”

Nicola had become a regular at her local swimming baths and more recently had been practising in Lake Windermere so she was familiar with outdoor swimming.
