The Global State of Democracy is a biennial publication that assesses the state of democracy around the world, based on data from newly developed Global State of Democracy indices. The publication includes an overview of global and regional democracy trends, current challenges, as well as recommendations for policy makers and democracy practitioners. The publication’s first edition focuses on ‘Exploring Democracy’s Resilience’ and analyses a set of key challenges to democracy and the enabling conditions for its resilience. 

The event will have contributions from Yves Leterme (Secretary-General, International IDEA), Didier Reynders (Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs) and Heidi Hautala (Vice-President, European Parliament), among others.
