BAE Systems’ Ideagen-sponsored event described as “huge success”

A FLIGHT Safety and integrity event organised by BAE Systems and part-sponsored by software firm Ideagen has been described as a “huge success”.

Around 40 delegates attended the Regional Aircraft Flight Operations Support 2016 conference which took place over two days close to Glasgow’s Prestwick Airport in Scotland.

The purpose of the event was to bring airline operators and service providers together to discuss improving flight safety and integrity as well as other issues affecting the aviation sector.

Presentations this year included addresses from Swiss Global Airlines and Malmo Airlines as well as an assessment of flight safety data throughout the previous twelve months.

Steven Leisegang, a key member of Ideagen’s Aviation, Aerospace and Defence team for over five years, described the event as a “huge success”.

Steve, who also presented to delegates during the first day of the event, said: “The event was a great way to bring people together to talk about the various issues affecting the industry.

“Although the main topic of the event was ‘flight safety and integrity’ that was not the solitary issue being covered and delegates happily mingled with one another on a range of aviation subjects.

“The event was a huge success and a huge well done to the BAE Systems’ team for the organisation and professionalism shown during both days. It is nice and refreshing for operators and service providers such as ourselves at Ideagen to come together to chat about a common good; and that’s how to improve flight safety and integrity.”

Chaired by BAE Systems, the event attracts BAE146 and Avro Regional Jet operators from all across the globe as well as Operators of the ATP turboprop.

In recent years the conference – which took place between Tuesday, March 8th and Wednesday, March 9th– has sparked key discussions on aspects of aviation safety including topics on flight safety and integrity, AFM and FCOM, simulators, fuel burn and environment, software, EFBs and iPads and unusual operations such as unpaved ops.

Stephen Morrison, Head of Flight Operations and Support at BAE Systems, said: “Although the key generator of this event is flight safety and integrity both days offer delegates the chance to discuss a number of issues that affect their day-to-day operations.

“The airlines themselves get a great deal out of the networking where they can chat with each other rather than simply only to us.

“The support from organisations such as Ideagen gives the operators the chance to see what the service providers can offer them to improve their own flight safety and integrity processes. This event is a great way for the operators and service providers to come together and we are happy to be the means for these conversations to take place.”

Steven Cespedes, Ideagen’s Head of Aviation, said: “The BAE Systems Regional Aircraft Flight Operations Support is now in its 11thyear and is an event that we at Ideagen look forward to.

“The event itself presents likeminded and experienced aviation individuals with a platform to discuss the latest trends and developments in the industry, as well as network and share ideas on improving flight safety levels across the sector.

“This year, it was a pleasure to part sponsor the delegate dinner as well as present at the event.”
