dartOCM version 3.2 released in "major step forward" in streamlining order communications for healthcare organisations

Ideagen, a provider of information management software to organisations in highly regulated industries, has released the latest version of its leading healthcare order communications product, dartOCM.

A browser-based, highly intuitive, order communications system, dartOCM meets the needs of pathology and other medical laboratories in both primary care and hospital departments.

The latest version of the software, dartOCM v3.2, further enhances the order communications process, introducing a number of new features including:

  • Cross discipline & cross department ordering
  • New, colour coded alert screen for result notification
  • Cumulative Result & Chart Views to provide an overall picture of an individual patient

Paul Jackson, Ideagen’s Product Manager for Healthcare Solutions, said: “dartOCM v3.2 is a major step forward in helping healthcare staff streamline the order comms process while being presented with the information they require in a format that is easy to consume. The cross discipline/cross department functionality in particular will go a long way in reducing the time spent in traditional order communications requesting.

“dartOCM’s dynamic and highly configurable eForm capability presents staff with relevant questions based on the tests and investigations that are requested. What this means is that users can now submit a request based on pre-defined conditions, presenting complaints, diagnosis and by order sets configured globally, by location or by individual users. This facilitates standardisation of best practice and is a first line of defence against inappropriate requesting such as duplicate or excessive pathology tests, and to reduce potential patient harm by enforcing completion of mandatory information such as an MRI safety declaration.”

In further highlights of the new software, dartOCM v3.2 comes with a colour coded alerting screen, allowing for Pathology staff to quickly see which results have been authorised, viewed or still to be assessed. Cumulative and chart views allow for patient results to be listed in chronological order in both tabular and graphical views.

Paul added: “The cumulative and chart view will help save time by providing a concise list of all results in date order and provide an overall picture of a patient. It also makes it easier for clinicians to review and identify trends and spot improvements or deterioration.”

dartOCM is compatible with all nationally recognised GP systems, providing benefits across the range of requesting locations. The order communications system is interoperable with any LIMS system and is proven throughout the NHS with millions of requests processed by thousands of clinicians every year.

Among the users of the product include Dartford & Gravesham NHS Trust, East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust and Royal Wolverhampton Hospitals NHS Trust.
