Tabarak and Mushrae top global Arabian racehorse rating for 2013.
Tabarak (GB) and Mushrae (FR) tied for honor of best Arabian racehorse in the world. That was clear after the results of the 3rd annual global rating of Arabian racehorses by the Pattern Race Committee of IFAHR (the International Federation of Arabian Horse Racing Authorities) were published today. Both horses defeated each other once last year, and the committee was unable to split the pair, giving both a rating of 126.
Tabarak, a 5-year-old, is a homebred for Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Thani (Umm Qarn Farms) and is in training with Frenchman Alban de Mieulle. His top performances last year include the Emir’s Sword (Gr 1) in Doha, Qatar, in February and the Qatar Harwood International Stakes (Gr 1) at Doncaster in the UK last September, where he was ridden by Olivier Peslier. The latter contest was the first ever Arabian race to be run on a classic card in England. Tabarak also recorded wins in the Qatar International Derby (Gr 2) and The Heir Apparent Trophy (Gr 2), both run in Qatar.
The one year younger Mushrae won the most expensive Arabian race in the world, the €700,000 ($960,000) Qatar Arabian World Cup (Gr 1), on Arc day at Longchamp in Paris last October. He was ridden by Christophe Soumillon. Mushrae races as a homebred for Sheik Mansoor bin Zayed al Nayhan from Abu Dhabi, UAE, and is in training with Jean-Pierre Totain in France.
