Conshohocken, PA – Apr. 4, 2016 – IKEA U.S. today announced its first-ever National ‘Career Meet & Greet’ hiring event, taking place on Thursday, April 7 in all 41 IKEA U.S. stores and four distribution centers. To support current growth plans, IKEA U.S. plans to hire more than 2,000 co-workers.* Open positions include hourly permanent and seasonal opportunities. Interested candidates are also invited to go to http://www.IKEA-USA.com to find an IKEA hiring store event.

The ‘Career Meet & Greet’ hiring event will take place in all IKEA store restaurants and four distribution centers. Here greeters will introduce applicants to hiring managers for informal interviews. These managers will discuss IKEA values, potential openings and what it’s like to work for a company listed on the 2016 FORTUNE 100 Best Companies to Work For® list. If there is interest and a good fit, the candidate will be called back for an interview the following week.

“We’re looking forward to hosting the first ever national hiring event for IKEA in the U.S.  The co-workers who join us will be contributing to our customers having a better everyday life in their home,” commented Lars Petersson, IKEA U.S. President. “We are looking to hire a diverse and talented group of candidates, people who have a passion for home furnishings and who want to be a part of our values and mission driven company.”

On April 5 & 6, IKEA U.S. will also be hosting ‘Talent Days’ for all present co-workers at all locations. This is a way to discuss different career paths and opportunities at IKEA. Several leaders will be on hand to speak about different areas of the business and chat with the co-workers about their potential career direction.

IKEA aims to be a great place to work and was recently recognized on several national lists.  IKEA offers co-workers living wages based on local living costs. There is also three week out scheduling, and benefits above industry standard, as well as significant career advancement opportunities. In fact, 75-90 percent of senior managers at a store level are promoted from within. And as of July 2015, the average tenure of an IKEA co-worker is 5 years, which is well above industry and U.S. workforce average.

IKEA has been cited for its strong culture and the company values of humbleness, willpower, simplicity, and togetherness and enthusiasm. IKEA U.S. has recently been recognized as a great place to work on the Great Place to Work® and Fortune 20 Best Workplaces Retail list. Additionally, IKEA received the number three spot on the CareerBliss “Happiest Retailers to Work For” list and was also recently recognized by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation with a 100%, perfect score on the 2016 Corporate Equality Index (CEI).

*IKEA opened its first U.S. store on June 12, 1985 in Plymouth Meeting, PA. Today, there are 41 IKEA stores nationwide, with more openings planned for the near future. IKEA will open seven more stores by summer 2018 including Las Vegas, Memphis, TN; Columbus, OH, Jacksonville, FLA., Grand Prairie, TX, Indianapolis, IN and San Francisco, CA. The company currently employs over 14,000 co-workers nationwide.
