iLOQ collaborates with UPS to neutralize CO\2\ emissions

iLOQ takes care of its courier and parcel transport in a CO₂-neutral manner in cooperation with UPS. Through  UPS’s carbon neutral program, UPS provides companies with an easy environmental solution to neutralize CO₂ emissions from transportation.

iLOQ offsets emissions from its transportation through UPS to verified environmental projects where methane is turned into biogas for heat and electricity production. UPS carbon neutral option is verified by Société Générale de Surveillance (SGS) and UPS’s carbon offset process adheres to The CarbonNeutral Protocol from Natural Capital Partners. 

UPS carbon neutral Program Projects:

• Chol Charoen Biogas Capture – Cholburi, Thailand
• Wolf Creek Landfill Gas Capture – Georgia, USA

The projects follow The Gold Standard, Climate Action Reserve (CAR), Certified Emissions Reduction (CERs), EU Emission Allowance (EUA) and American Carbon Registry (ACR) standards.

“At the beginning of 2019, we signed a wider cooperation agreement with UPS. This involved centralizing all customer deliveries outside Finland, as well as inbound global package and courier services to be handled by UPS, under the same agreement. As our cooperation grew and deepened, in 2020, we also signed a CO₂ emissions agreement, which covers Air and Road transportation, regardless of the service class of the shipment. With iLOQ’s previous CO₂ emissions agreements with other LSP´s, as well as the CO₂ agreement with UPS, we can proudly say that iLOQ will offset all of its own carbon footprint, both inbound and outbound transportation. In this way, we are committed to working for a cleaner and more vibrant environment, and our cooperation also supports iLOQ's own environmental responsibility. Every year, our self-powered solutions save 30,000 kg of battery waste compared to mechanical and battery-powered locking solutions. In 2020, although global freight capacity was reduced, I am very satisfied with UPS's operations and services even during COVID-19 times. UPS has helped us as a company to move all needed shipments to the right places on time. On time deliveries, customer service, information flow and availability of preliminary information have been excellent. This trust allows us to focus on other supply chain topics and let UPS handle our courier and parcel services,” explains Pekka Hassi, iLOQ's Senior Sourcing Manager.
