Washington, D.C. (June 2, 2011)  – In less than a decade, the Imagine America Foundation has managed to surpass the $1 million mark in total scholarship award amounts to students in its Promise Scholarship and LDRSHIP Award programs.

The Foundation, which has long held the moniker of the for-profit education sector’s largest provider of scholarships, achieved the monumental dollar figure for the two programs combined through the continual growth of its participating career colleges, its generous donors, and the evolution of its scholarship application process.

The Promise scholarship program was created in 2002 to assist students who were attending participating Imagine America colleges through the Imagine America high school scholarship program and who performed well in the classroom with a 3.5 or higher GPA. The Promise scholarship is essentially a continuation of the Foundation’s award-winning Imagine America high school scholarship program. Each scholarship provides $500 cash grants toward the student’s tuition.

The Foundation established the LDRSHIP Award in 2004 to recognize and honor exceptional career college students who have served their country honorably in the military and decided to further their education. The LDRSHIP Award offers up to $2,500 in cash grants toward college tuition to active duty, reservist, honorably discharged or retired U.S. military veterans attending a career college participating in an Imagine America scholarship or award program.

“Achieving this mark is monumental for our organization and for the for-profit career education sector as well,” said Robert L. Martin, President of the Imagine America Foundation. “The success of our scholarship and award programs are evidence that career education remains in high demand. Thousands of students’ lives have been changed by the programs our schools provide.”

To date, the Promise scholarship program has benefitted nearly 800 recipients. The LDRSHIP award has helped support educations for 70 students. Promise scholarships and LDRSHIP Awards are funded, from grants made by the Foundation’s 21st Century Workforce Fund sponsors.

The process of applying for a scholarship through the Imagine America Foundation has recently been made easier. Last month, the Foundation announced the redesigned of its organizational website, www.imagine-america.org, which allows students to begin the application process from the Foundation’s homepage.
