UK Mail’s hybrid mailing brand imail has today announced a new partnership with EMIS, the UK leader in clinical IT systems for joined-up care. The partnership will allow more than 3,000 EMIS Web users to access imail’s print and mail solution via an accredited EMIS plugin that is cheaper and more secure than traditional mail.

imail’s partnership with EMIS will allow GPs to send letters, for example, inviting patients to attend flu clinics - securely within minutes to one of UK Mail’s nationwide print centres for printing and mailing. The service, which operates on a secure online platform, helps reduce admin time as well as enabling practices to generate significant cost savings; letters are printed and posted from just 36p each.

Andy Barber, General Manager of imail said, “We are delighted to announce our partnership with EMIS in developing this innovative secure plugin, which will help practices work more efficiently and save money.  imail is the only integrated print and postal operation of its type and operates under the highest levels of data security. Our unique EMIS/imail application allows for seamless transmission of personalised patient letters to UK Mail for printing and posting at less than a cost of stamp.”

Neil Laycock, Managing Director of EMIS, said: “EMIS has always been committed to working in partnership with industry innovators to deliver time, resource and efficiency benefits to GP practices – the end result being better patient care. UK Mail is a welcome addition to the growing list of partners that we collaborate with to reinforce that commitment.”

Tracy Lavender, Practice Administrator / IT Lead at Cecil Square Surgery has been using the system to send letters to their patients and said: “Since starting to use imail, we have experienced a price saving of 18% on stamps alone, not to mention a significant reduction in paper, ink and envelope costs.  We also no longer have to waste time filling envelopes or worrying about taking our mailings to the post box on time. imail is quick and simple to set up, has an easy to use interface, and friendly support staff at hand.”

Since its launch in 2008, imail has printed and mailed over 40m mail documents with many GPs and NHS Trusts using imail to communicate sensitive mailings such as screening results. The significant growth contributed to imail’s winning the 2013 World Mail Award.
