The economy of Saxony-Anhalt is presenting itself twice in China
Minister Webel to visit trade fair / State Secretary Wünsch to accompany delegation trip
The economy of German federal state of Saxony-Anhalt will present itself twice this month in China: The Minister for Regional Development and Transport, Thomas Webel, will advertise the investment location of Saxony-Anhalt from 14th to 16th June 2016 at the "transport logistic China" trade fair, together with logistics and logistics-related companies from the region. Thomas Wünsch, State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy, Science and Digitalisation, will accompany an economic delegation to China from 9th to 16th June 2016 and support the companies travelling with him in their market development. Dr. Carlhans Uhle, managing director of Investment and Marketing Corporation Saxony-Anhalt mbH (IMG), will take part in the trade fair first of all and then join the delegation.
Saxony-Anhalt wants to reinforce its engagement in the Asian logistics market. "The geographically convenient location of the region in the middle of Europe, an excellently developed infrastructure and well-trained specialists, as well as the proximity to Eastern European EU states, provide good conditions to establish the centre of Germany in the future as a major hub for the transhipment of goods", said Thomas Webel, Minister of Transport of Saxony-Anhalt, before departing. Saxony-Anhalt could play an increasingly important role in the coming years, especially in the organisation of hinterland transport for the major German North Sea ports.
The "transport logistic China" trade fair is the leading international trade fair for logistics, mobility, IT and supply chain management. It is a business platform and source of inspiration for the global logistics and transport industry. A comprehensive conference programme will supplement the event. This year at the 7th international logistics trade fair, 492 exhibitors from 47 countries will present themselves in Shanghai, five of which are from Saxony-Anhalt. The IMG has arranged a joint stand for them.
Speaking about the economic delegation trip, State Secretary Wünsch said: "Foreign trade with China is booming. In 2015, imports and exports achieved a record value of just over 2.7 billion euros - over a third more than the previous year. In the list of foreign trade partners of Saxony-Anhalt, China is already number 3 - and the end is still nowhere in sight. Therefore, we want to support our local companies with the delegation trip so that they can take further advantage of the opportunities that lie in China."
The objective of the delegation trip is to support small and medium-sized companies from Saxony-Anhalt in their market development in China and strengthen already existing contacts and cooperation with Chinese partners. A conference in the North-eastern Chinese economic centre of Shenyang on the topic of "networking of science and small business" and numerous talks arranged beforehand with Chinese companies, amongst other things, will serve to initiate business.
Moreover, the opportunities to create and expand relations between universities, research institutes and companies in Saxony-Anhalt and China will be explored and political appointments will be scheduled.
Activities in the delegation trip programme are, amongst other things:
- A visit to the company "SIASUN Robot & Automation Co Ltd.", Introduction to the company by Prof. Dr. Daokui Qu, President
