Scott Gadeken named new Head of Physical Conditioning at the IMG Performance Institute
Today IMG Academies announced Scott Gadeken is the new Head of Physical Conditioning at the IMG Performance Institute, headquartered on the sprawling 400-acre IMG Academies campus.
“I am looking forward to joining the IMG Performance Institute in its mission to deliver the most comprehensive and cutting-edge training available to athletes today,” remarked Gadeken. “IMG will afford me the unique opportunity to share my expertise with athletes from the youth level through the professional ranks, and across multiple sports.”
Before joining IMG Academies, Gadeken served as the Head Assistant Strength Coach for the University of Washington football program, as well as the Strength and Conditioning Coordinator for the school’s softball program. Prior to serving these roles, Gadeken was the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach at the University of Idaho, Head Strength Coach (basketball) and Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach (football) for LSU, and Head Strength Coach (women’s basketball, baseball and volleyball) and Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach (football) for his alma mater, Kansas State University.
Among his countless titles and accolades, Gadeken was a finalist for the National Strength and Conditioning Association’s National Strength Coach of the Year award in 2001, following an impressive string of bowl wins while at both Kansas State and LSU. In 2003, he helped lead LSU to a national title, and in 2004 and 2005, he aided the LSU women’s basketball team in reaching the Final Four two years in a row.
Said Greg Phillips, IMG Vice President and Athletics Director, “Scott Gadeken is a phenomenal addition to our world-class team of trainers, coaches, and performance experts. He brings a great deal of knowledge to this position, and will play an integral role in the athletic development of our youth, high school, collegiate and professional athletes.”
In his new role, Gadeken will manage the physical conditioning curriculum for IMG Academies’ 800 student-athletes across seven sports, and oversee a growing staff of sport-specialized trainers at the IMG Performance Institute. “Scott is poised to make an immediate impact on our program,” remarked Trevor Moawad, Director of the IMG Performance Institute. “He possesses an innate ability to communicate and motivate, and we expect our athletes will benefit tremendously from his leadership.”
Gadeken will also lead the strength and conditioning portions of the IMG Performance Institute’s world-renowned specialty training programs, including NFL Combine Training, NBA Pre-Draft Training, Pro Soccer Training and MLB Winter Training. These programs have helped produce some of the pro sports world’s most impressive athletes, from Super Bowl champion Drew Brees to MLB MVP Joey Votto to Heisman winner Cam Newton.
“Having spent the last 15 years in the university setting, I am looking forward to working on IMG’s campus where I can help athletes of all ages advance athletically and reach their performance goals,” said Gadeken.
