Joint collaboration can lead to new breakthroughs in power-efficient AI-based video enhancement technology for the next-generation of smartphones.

IMINT Image Intelligence AB ("Imint”), a global leader in video enhancement software, has teamed up with Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. to develop a new generation of video enhancement solutions that leverage the latest in artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Through this collaboration, Imint is poised to establish a new standard in smartphone camera performance through a suite of AI-based solutions that allows users to capture professional-quality content from mobile devices.

In addition to AI-based video enhancement solutions, Imint and Qualcomm Technologies are also working to upgrade Imint’s existing suite of Vidhance smartphone solutions with a new technology that significantly reduces the amount of power that each requires. The new power-efficient Vidhance solutions are optimized for use on the flagship Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 865 Mobile Platform.

By teaming up with Qualcomm Technologies, Imint is able to leverage their core technology to bring a new generation of Imint video enhancement solutions to market faster than ever before,” said Andreas Lifvendahl, Chief Executive Officer of Imint. “Our collaboration allows us to remain laser-focused on that which we do best – video enhancement and analytics – while continuously leveraging Qualcomm Technologies’ latest breakthroughs to elevate the performance of our solutions.”

The first results of the Imint and Qualcomm Technologies collaboration are now available to the mobile industry. Imint’s new Vidhance Selfie Mode solution keeps smartphone users in the video frame even when they’re moving. Vidhance Selfie Mode leverages Qualcomm Technologies’ high-accuracy hardware facial detection that’s assisted by the 5th generation Qualcomm® AI Engine to identify a user’s face and apply algorithms that track its movement and continuously reposition it within the frame.

Furthermore, Imint has worked with Qualcomm Technologies to develop a “power consumption reduction enabler” technology that significantly reduces the power required to process video with Vidhance solutions. With direct access to the Qualcomm Spectra™ 485 Image Signal Processor, Imint has been able to significantly cut the power consumption of its suite of solutions while also accelerating video rendering.

“This is just the first phase of a joint exploration to combine the latest in video enhancement technology with Qualcomm Technologies to unleash new waves of innovation in smartphone camera performance,” continued Lifvendahl. “We look forward to showcasing to the mobile market the current and future of video enhancement technology for smartphones and more.”

“Imint has one of the best enhancement technology for mobile devices,” concluded Manvinder Singh, VP, Product Management, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. “We look forward to continuing to collaborate with the company to assist in the development of a new generation of power-efficient, AI-based video solutions for our cutting-edge Snapdragon mobile platforms.”

Imint’s suite of Vidhance solutions includes Vidhance Selfie Mode, Vidhance Super Stabilization, Vidhance Multi-Camera Transition, and Vidhance Dynamic Motion Blur Reduction, amongst many others – and are used by leading smartphone manufacturers such as Xiaomi, OPPO, OnePlus, and Vivo, amongst others.
